The Bulldog Winch Trailer Winch # BDW15017 actually comes with its own mounting bracket. The problem is that since you secure the winch by threading the bolts through the bottom of the bracket to the bottom of the winch you would have to permanently mount the winch by welding it to your trailer.

The Dutton-Lainson Worm Gear winch is designed to only turn when the handle is turned. That being said, it is NOT designed to hold a load on a trailer. If you use the winch to pull a car on a trailer, the car should then be strapped to the trailer before transporting it. There are a few different ways that you could wire up an electric winch to your truck, even if the winch is mounted on a trailer. I do not recommend wiring it to the trailer connector wiring because winches draw a lot of power and trailer wiring is too small to handle that kind of current.

Most boat trailer winches, whether manual or electric, use standardized mounting. The linked photo of the bottom surface of this Fulton electric winch shows the T-slot mounting scheme. This matches up to a plate such as the Dutton-Lainson Mounting Adapter Plate # DL24055.

You would not be able to mount a winch to a wood bed if you are going to put any kind of load on it. You would need to get the winch mounted to the steel frame somehow. To do this you can use U bolts to attach through the wood bed to the trailer frame, if there is steel frame below the bed. Otherwise, you will want to fabricate a mounting location for your trailer.
